Do you suffer from gum disease? If so, the staff at Arnold L. Batchelor, Jr., DMD, PA might suggest you come into our office for a periodontal scaling or root planing. What is a periodontal scaling? It is a highly-effective procedure that is capable of treating mild to moderate gum disease. It is especially effective when dangerous gum pockets have formed between your teeth and gums. Root planing is the process of smoothening the root surfaces and removing the infected tooth structure.
The gum pockets caused by periodontal disease allows for tartar, plaque, and other bacteria to settle between your gums and teeth. If given enough time, these toxins can eventually work their way to the roots of your teeth, which can kill the entire tooth and cause anything from pain to heart disease. Clean the bacteria out of your gums by scheduling an appointment with us.
Stopping Gum Disease in Its Tracks
After numbing your gums, our periodontist will get to work gently removing all of the calcified tartar and debris from both above and below your gumline. The removal of this bacteria will help you clean your mouth and reverse the damage caused by periodontal disease. Furthermore, we can provide antibiotic fibers that can be placed to prevent infection when healing larger gum pockets in your mouth.
There are many reasons you should consider having our periodontal team provide scaling treatments to your mouth when you are dealing with gum disease. Schedule an appointment with us to learn more about the benefits of our treatments, including:
Stops Gum Disease
Prevents Tooth Loss
Prevents Tooth Decay
Protects the Tooth’s Roots
Eliminates Bad Breath Associated with Gum Disease
If gum disease is caught early and hasn't damaged the structures below the gum line, a professional cleaning should do. If the pockets between your gums and teeth are too deep, however, scaling and root planing may be needed.
Contact us if you need a deep cleaning to fight back against gum disease.

I am new to the area and asked for recommendations for a dentist. Dr. Batchelor came highly recommended and I was not disappointed. I had a most thorough cleaning by Susan and a very comprehensive exam by Dr. Batchelor. Potential problems were given consideration and no pressure for unwanted procedures. I felt well cared for. His staff is very friendly and welcoming.

We've been coming to Dr B for 13 years now. I can honestly say that everyone in his office is like another family member. Whenever we go for our check ups, we spend more time catching up with each other than we do in the chair. Highly recommend Dr Batchelor and his staff.

I feel like I'm visiting my friends when I come here. I love the advice and honest feedback I get about my teeth and I appreciate when they "get on me" about flossing, keeping my mouth healthy, etc. You can't beat a friendly and personable experience - especially when it comes to your health!

Best dentist in Fort Mill/Charlotte. Does a great job. Not pushy for extra services, just a great pain-free dentist.

I'm one of those people who puts on two layers of deodorant before going to the dentist, but Dr. Batchelor, wife Michelle and all the staff, Debbie, Sherry, Susan, etc., welcome me in with open arms. Truly, they are all kind people, who put a smile (yes, that's a joke) on a sometimes trying experience. My husband and I have been regular patients for years - never a regret.

Been going to Dr Bachelor since I moved to Fort Mill 10 years ago. He one of the best dentists I've had and I'm originally from a big medical town with a lot of good doctors so that says a lot. His staff is very friendly and in the 10 years I've never had to wait. Dr Bachelor is very maticulous and extremly knowledgeable, friendly and realistic about treatments.

Dr. Batchelor was my family's dentist for almost 20 years. (We recently had to relocate to another city.) He is a wonderful, friendly man who understands dental health and is up to date on the most effective treatments. He also takes time to explain any procedures you have questions about without it seeming like an imposition. The office staff and assistants are also caring and competent. If you are looking for a great dentist, look no further.
